MAYFIELD MINES – NSW Mine Subsidence

Our Australian warehouses, workshops and office are permanently flooded / subsided due to an abandoned mine network that is beneath our buildings. This has tremendously damaged our businesses.

Initially, we had some cracking in our buildings, together with water flowing into the lower warehouse. The water flow out of the mine significantly increased, with over 20,000,000 litres of mine water per year flowing into the lower warehouse. Sinkholes, road subsidence, footpath subsidence, broken stormwater and Hunter Water assets, even water flowing out of kerbs and roads – all is not enough to convince the NSW Government that there is a problem.

UPDATE: After many years of being told that the abandoned mine workings were either not under our buildings or affecting us, in Aug 2024 we finally received evidence that these mines are indeed our buildings, and that there is direct correlation between the subsidence damage and flooding in our properties. The NSW Government is still not acknowledging this evidence.

Abandoned Newcastle legacy mines are being ignored in Mayfield. Information has been withheld from us for many years, hampering our efforts to solve the subsidence & flooding problems – this has destroyed our buildings and businesses.
